"Anastasia" A Great Animated Film: Review!

I just watched Anastasia! This animated marvel is an American film made is 1997. The movie is inspired by a true character in Russia's history; Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia. This film is by no mains a form of history but rather a fairy tale adaptation. None the less it is fantastic!

WHAT YOU HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO:

The story opens with a beautiful ball being held in the main palace in Russia to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of Romanov rule.

However, a great Russian wizard named Rasputin is branded as a trader by Nicolas Romanovs, the Tsar of Imperial Russia. With rage and hatred towards the Romanovs, he sold his soul to the devil and came back to storm the place, setting fire to everything. Only the youngest daughter, Anastasia Romanovs, at age eight and her grandmother, Dowager Empress Marie, lived throw the attack with the help of a servant boy.

Once out of the palace she is separated from her grandma and is found by an orphanage. Everyone believes Anastasia is dead with the rest of her siblings.

Tell 10 years after the tragic event it is thought that maybe she is not dead, and the Empress issues a handsome reward to anyone who can find her granddaughter and bring her back. That's when we are introduced to two conmen who search for someone who can play the part as the lost Duchess.

Anastasia lived in the orphanage till age 18, growing up with amnesia, when she is sent off to work in a fish factory. She takes life into her own hands with the appearance of a small puppy dog taken as a sign to head for Pairs to find her family.

That's where I’ll leave the non-spoiler review! Go watch it it’s so good and the music is fantastic.

NOW MY OPINION!

First of all, the music is my favorite! (I'm listening to "once upon a December" now<3) and AHH I love it! Not only that the main character is so feisty! It's so much fun to watch her grow. Along with her relationship with Dimitri, the handsome conman, it is so wild.

A good old fashion hate-to-love relationship with these two. With the amount of bickering they do it's so cute when they have to trust each other with their lives.

One part in particular, stands out as epic cute bonding...

Literally everything on the bout!!! When she is all dressed up and her and Dimitri starts dancing! The dialogue they share is so cute, he almost kisses her for goodness sakes!

Then that night she dreams about her family. Tt's beautiful and sad because that is what she is longing for. To know the people that will give her a place to belong.

This dream is a fabrication made by Rasputin in an attempt to kill her. The dream affects her physical body and as she walks in the dream, she also walks real life.

She is compelled to go to the edge of the boat in the dead of night in a storm and jump off.

Thankfully the animal companion woke up Dimitri and he grabs her just as she was about to jump off. her dream turns into a nightmare just before she awakes. Their trust in each other is strengthened so much because of that.

But that's enough about them, I want to talk about a hilarious observation I made in regards to the villain, Rasputin.

The second time we see him he is stuck in limbo, a type of afterlife. He's dead but he can't pass on because he still has unfinished business, manly Anastasia is not dead, the only living descendant of Nicolas. He is a sad and dramatic man.

Have you seen the meme of all the Disney princesses laying dramatically on some kind of set with the caption being something like "Disney princesses showed me that to express sadness lay on the nearest object,"

Well, I saw that before watching the movie and when I saw Rasputin talking to Bartok, a small white bat that serves him, being angsty in limbo, he totally acted like a Disney princess

I thought that was great!!

The only thing I didn’t like was the animation style. Not my favorite, it made Dimitri look weird and the grandma look crazy.

I give this movie a 7 out of 10!!
