A look into my "Selection" of thoughts on Kiera Cass exciting book series!

Updated: Feb 24, 2020

The Selection by Kiera Cass is an infuriating love journey between a young girl who doesn’t know what she wants in life and two man who fall head over heels for her! This review is more of a rent so I’m sorry.

Now before you Selection lovers leave expecting another blog dissing this book series, let me say I love this book, I love the world and all the people in it but man it is hard not to yell at America Singer.

Before I tell you my thoughts about the happenings of the book let me give you a little insight as to what the book is about in case you have never read it. 

THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO:

Cass gives us a world hundreds of years in the future where everything is all messed up, wars happened and now kings and queens are back. Yay! With a cast system in place everyone must live the quality of life related to the number they are burn with. It ranges from eight to one with one being the best.

These "ones" (a.k.a. royals) have a hard time finding a someone to love, so they have to randomly pick 35 girls (or guys depending) in all the different providences and cases to come and date the, this is called “the selection.”

Our main character was born a five, not bad but they struggle often. America Singer is, get this, a singer! She is a musician and plays the violin and the piano, along with like four other instruments that I can’t remember.

The selection starts, and all the eligible young ladies are asked to inter a raffle for the chance to live in a beautiful castle, meet the royals, have lavish parties, be pampered and fight for the hand of the future king, Prince Maxon. Okay not “fight” but flirt with the Prince, in the hopes he falls in love with them. America gets in against all odds and hates it. But Prince Maxon immediately takes a liking to her as she is the only one that just wants to be his friend. She doesn’t want to marry him, but she can’t go back home because of the heart break caused by her ex-boyfriend.

So, with a lot of love, pain and a hint of life-threatening rebels in the castle’s backyard, I highly recommend this book.

NOW MY OPINION!

She is in love with her brother’s childhood best friend Aspen. It’s really cute at the beginning because they have this forbidden love thing going on with Aspen being born an eight.

But after a really cute gestor by her he gets all offended and breaks up with her! He also is the reason she entered into the selection and it was the best decision she had ever made.

Because of this, she got to make a great friend, have amazing food, and get the PRINCE fall in love with her because she was claustrophobia the castle.

I know that she didn’t want to be then queen but by the time she decided that the Maxon was worth it she goes back to Aspen!

Also why didn’t she tell Maxon that Aspen was there!! I was so mad when I read the part when her and Maxon where going down to the movie theater and ASPEN was there! This was supposed to be the time she got over him.

She didn’t need to tell Maxon that this was the guy that brock her heart but that she didn’t really like him!

*sigh* I’ll stop with that. I’ll be sure to talk more about this with the next post about this series comes out. I already have a lot of thoughts about one incident in particular.

~Signing off
