Transforming my Basement into a home library

My dad recently decided that half of the basement, my brother's old bedroom, can be turned into a home Library. In this video, I begin the first step of many to turn a once disastrous room into a cozy library/study.

The first part is cleaning EVERYTHING. I sectioned off the two sides, one side still needs to hold a lot of my brother's things and cleared out and threw away a lot of unwanted items of the other.

I didn't really have a method to my madness, I walked around the room and took care if things as I saw them. I talked to my dad and we are planning on looking through a Facebook marketplace to find large used bookshelves for cheap.

I don’t want to get things bran new, not only is that very expensive but I want the library to have an antique esthetic to it. By buying used and found objects, it can solidify that feeling.

My sister is able to donate a large, dark brown, desk that will be perfect in front of the window. I didn’t get to film this, but my dad and brothers have already placed two shelfs down there.

Soon I will be starting the filming of finding all the books in the house and going through them. If you have any tips on how to organize books to best have a fluid and cohesive system to order books leave a comment and we can have a conversation.

I'm having a great time, even when I'm in the middle of finals, this has been a great way to let off steam.

More videos and updates of the library to come,
